1. Cape Agulhas - The Cape Agulhas lighthouse is situated at the southern most tip of Africa, and celebrated its 150th birthday over three years ago.
2. Cape Columbine - Cape Columbine is approximately 2 and 1/2 hours drive from Cape Town situated on the west coast, about 3 km from the quaint fishing village of Paternoster.
3. Cape Hangklip - Although it is now an unmanned lighthouse, it is set on the picturesque coast about 1 and 1/2 hour drive from Cape Town.
4. Cape Hermes - Situated in Port St Johns, which is a small coastal town and known as the jewel of the Wild coast the Cape Hermes lighthouse was built using granite rocks quarried from nearby.
5. Cape Infanta - This Lighthouse is situated in the San Sebastian Private Nature Reserve on the road to Cape Infanta. It has a 15 meter lattice tower and was commissioned on 15 March 1979.
6. Cape Point - No, this is not the most Southern tip of Africa! A lot of people think it is. The light house you see here was the second light house, built 286 feet below the first which was erected on an iron tower.
7. Cape Recife - Cape Recife is situated at the southern entrance to Algoa Bay and warns mariners about the dangers which abound in the dark waters.
8. Cape St Blaize - Mossel Bay lies on the other side of a protruding cape, or point. In this case it is Cape St Blaize.

10. Cape St Martins - Cape St. Martin Lighthouse is a 10 meter lattice tower with an inverted Triangular day marker. It was installed in 1977. It is on the Southern side of St Helena Bay.
11. Cape Vidal - Situated in the Cape Vidal Forestry Reserve several kilometres north of the Umfolosi River on the Natal north coast is the unique Cape St Vidal lighthouse.
12. Coopers Lighthouse - This lighthouse was commissioned on 31 July 1953. Has a range of 26 sea miles. 21 meter concrete tower. Almost identical to theUmhlanga Lighthouse. Was one of the lighthouses built to replace the Bluff lighthouse.
13. Danger Point - Situated on the Southern point of Walker Bay, near the village of Gansbaai, Danger Point originally named Ponte de Sao Brandao by Bartholomew Dias on 16 May 1488.
14. Dassen Island - Situated 55km from Cape Town's Table Bay is arguably one of the most isolated and bleakest manned lighthouses, Dassen Island lighthouse.
15. Deal Lighthouse - This lighthouse is at the entrance to Port Elizabeth. It replaced The Hill Lighthouse on 1 November 1973. The light is mounted on a 22 meter lattice tower.
16. Doringbaai - Doringbaai Lighthouse was installed in 1963. It is situated 20km south of the Olifants River in a fishing community.
17. Great Fish Point - The Great Fish Point lighthouse is situated at Great Fish Point near the mouth of the Great Fish River a mere 25 km from the coastal holiday resort of Port Alfred.
18. Green Point / Mouille Point [CT] - Green Point lighthouse was the first solidly constructed built on the South African coast, built on the north west point of the promontory bounding Table Bay, which was built by Herman Scutte who commenced work in 1920.
19. Groenriviermond - Groenriviermond Lighthouse is a 17.2 meter concrete structure. It is used as a navigational aid along the West Coast. The lighthouse is accessed by a gravel road. It is rather deserted with some farming in the area.
20. Hondeklipbaai - Hondeklip (Dog Rock) Lighthouse gets its name from a dog shaped rock. The first light was installed in 1936 but has had some changes. There is a temporary light that is solar powered while the new structure is being built. The white building that will house the light has been used at other venues (Port Durnford and South Sand Bluff Lighthouses in KZN).
21. Hood Point - Hood Point lighthouse is situated on the outskirts of East London on the east coast of South Africa.
22. Jesser Point - The most northerly lighthouse in Natal. Situated in a holiday resort at Sodwana. 10 meter concrete tower. Tarred road all the way.
23. Milnerton - This lighthouse is situated in the suburb of Milnerton on the West Coast on the way to Cape Columbine.
24. North Head - North Head Lighthouse was installed in 1939 and the first light was powered by acetylene gas. It is situated in the property of the Suldanha Naval Base on the Northern side of Suldanha Bay. The Lighthouse is now automated and is on a nature trial path.
25. North Sand Bluff - Tarred road to Port Edward. Round concrete tower that replaced the lattice tower from 1968. This lighthouse is commercialised and offers accommadation on site.
26. Port Nolloth - Port Nolloth Lighthouse is the most Northern Lighthouse on the Western side of South Africa. I met the Man who looks after the light a Mr Gawie Brandt who has 32 years service in the lighthouse business. He used to go out by boat to change the gas cylinders at a beacon. It is now solo powered. The Lighthouse was started in 1909 in this Diamond and Copper mining area.
27. Port Shepstone - The lighthouse is situated at the mouth of the Umzimkulu River on the Natal South Coast. The town was named after a well known statesman in native affairs, Sir Theophilus Shepstone.
28. Quoin Point - Situated at Buffelljagsbaai. This lighthouse was commissioned on 2nd March 1955. It is a lattice tower 23 meters high. It has a diamond shaped day marker. A 4 x 4 is required for the last few kilometres.
29. Richard's Bay - This lighthouse has a unique design. Square lower section of 8 meters and upper cylindrical section of 3 meters. Range of 25 sea miles. Commissioned on 22-05-1979. Easy to drive to this lighthouse.
30. Robben Island - Robben Island is a tiny island which lies 9 km to the North of the City of Cape Town.
31. Roman Rock - Probably one of the most interesting lighthouses in Southern Africa is Roman Rock, which is situated in False Bay at the entrance to the historical naval harbour of Simons Town.
32. Seal Point - Seal Point lighthouse is situated approximately 30 km from Humansdorp and 100 km from port Elizabeth and is home to the tallest masonry building, standing 27.75 meters high.
33. Slangkop - Slangkop is the tallest cast-iron tower on the South African coast.
34. South Head - South Head Lighthouse is situated on the Southern side of Suldanha Bay at a little known spot called Donkergat. The area is controlled by the National Defence Force and is behind locked gates. To get to it one must drive through the Langebaan National Park.
35. St Lucia - The St Lucia Lighthouse is situated on a densely wooded sand dune, rising to a point of 113m above the sea on the northern side of the Umfolozi River in Kwazulu-Natal.
36. Stompneusbaai - Stompneusbaai (Blunt Nose Bay) is not a Lighthouse but a Lead Light. The area was bought to establish Shelly Point Estate and the owner who was a Lighthouse enthusiast built this structure.
37. Swakopmund - Situated in the oasis on the edge of the desert stands Swakopmund lighthouse in the Town of Swakopmund in Namibia.
38. Tugela - Can be reached by ordinary car. Fences are being erected around the lighthouse. Follow the Tugela mouth turn off from the N2. It replaces the old lattice tower from 1972.
39. The Hill - The Hill lighthouse is situated in the Donkin reserve almost in the city centre of Port Elizabeth and it was lit for the first time on 1st June 1861.
40. Umhlanga Rocks - The lighthouse on Umhlangas beach was completed in 1954 and has been the subject of numerous paintings and memorabilia.
41. Ystervark Punt - This lighthouse is situated on a promontory about 80 km (50 mi) southwest of Mossel Bay near the mouth of the Gouritz River between Mossel Bay and Cape Agulhas.
